3 months since last update! This is like the SMALLEST break between journals yet!!! I still haven't fixed some issues since the site went up! Or made a commissions page. Which maybe I should get on with. I wanted to have more interesting journal entries, maybe something about Ever After High as I've been watching that recently. I enjoy girly childrens media. Though I am an adult, I think that also contributes to the fun. Analyzing the characters and world more deeply than they were written, trying to read deeper into the characters than a child mind would.
Though children/teens can and do do this too. Your favorite character IS bisexual and autistic and the 3 frames they were next to this character means they are in gay love with their (homo repressed) best friend and you Should make a deviantart journal about it.
I'm looking at dolls and ponies and creating ideas of different cultures and queer readings.
I tried, or like started a journal entry about my little pony, but I haven't finished it. I was quite a bit into my little pony for a while and the interest has died down. I had ideas of introducing My Little Pony friendship is magic, dissecting why it's a good kids/girls show. My personal opinions, how Gen 5 compares to Gen 4. What I like about the "fandom", sharing some fanart too. Here's the draft:
My little Pony Friendship is Magic was a show that aired from Oct 2010 to Oct 2019 for 9 seasons. Lauren Faust, the creator of MLP:FIM, original titled My Little Pony Adventures was a rework inspired by Lauren Faust's own experience when playing with her MLP toys as a child.
Thoughts on Gen 5?
In 2021 MLP generation 5 got introduced with the movie My Little Pony: A New Generation. Since then Gen 5 has 2 shows and it's own IDW comics. Gen 5 features a new main cast of ponies, though takes place in the same Universe as Generation 4.
While all previous generations were their own separate universe, generation 5 takes place into the far future after generation 4. This allows Hasbro to still feature and reuse the famous beloved mane 6, and confuse the world building by adding details that are contradictory to Gen 4. Gen 5 to me is more lackluster and lacks the components that made FIM good as it tries to copy it. Lauren Faust's MLP Adventures Show Bible said it best "And all too often the worlds created for girl properties are left vague, ambiguous and generic."
Ofcourse My Little Pony is ultimately for young kids, it's not for me. I find the shows a chore to watch through but I don't have to, and that being said I think I could've enjoyed the show as a child. But I think I can still critique this generation, especially on the matter of girls shows and characters being flat and stereotypical. I think FIM did it's goal of being a good girls show and Gen5 has not achieved the same to me.
With complaining about Gen 5 I wanted to, actually read and watch Gen 5 so I could give a fair input. But I didn't finish reading and watching Gen 5. Maybe I'll come back to the MLP journal draft, and maybe I'll revisit G5. Or maybe I'll give unfair critique of G5 despite having limited watch time with it XP.
I've once again thought of redesigning my neociites. But I'm lacking ideas. The site does have issues that could be fixed. The idea with all the main content being in an iframe is a bit unideal. And with the javascript file to resize the iframe, or save the last visited journal entry, I don't recall which one, it's slow to load. Maybe ideas would come to me more if I started updating this neocities more often. Yeah that makes sense. I may see more issues and get more ideas. Well I had one idea, but it's a bit of a secret (except that I mentioned it in a previous journal entry), but I don't have the motivation to do it right now. I guess I don't care. Oh! I also have to get a guestbook alternative, as guestbook has shutdown. I forgot to respond to the latest nice comment I got on guestbook, thank you to who sent that <3
